Academic Search Premier  is multi-disciplinary full text academic database, covering the humanities, social sciences, education, computer science, political science, general science, health science, gender studies, psychology and psychiatry, ethnic and multicultural studies, language and linguistics, and much more.  Indexing is provided for more than 8,000 publications, with full text for nearly 4,500 of those titles.  Full text coverage is available for more than 3,600 peer-reviewed academic journals.

 

Bigchalk eLibrary is a database provided by the Nebraska Library Commission. It provides full text access to a wide range of topics from various source material, including: magazines, journals, newspaper articles, wire service stories, television and radio transcripts, photographs, maps and reference books.

CINAHL Plus with Full Text is the definitive research tool for all areas of nursing and allied health literature.  

 

Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials  is a bibliography of controlled trails identified by contributors to the Cochrane Collaboration and others, as part of an international effort to hand search the world's journals and create an unbiased source of data for systematic reviews.

 

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews contains full text articles, as well as protocols focusing on the effects of healthcare. Data is evidence-based medicine and is often combined statistically (with meta-analysis) to increase the power of the findings of numerous studies, each too small to produce reliable results indivdually.

 

Cochrane Methodology Register (CMR) is a bibliography of publications which report on methods used in the conduct of controlled trials. It includes journal articles, books and conference proceedings; these articles are taken from the MEDLINE database and from hand searches. CMR contains the title of the article, information on where it was published and in some cases, a summary of the article. CMR is produced byt the UK Cochrane Centre, on behalf of the Cochrane Methodology Review Group.

 

Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE) includes abstracts of published systematic reviews on the effects of health care from around the workd, which have been critically analyzed according to a high standard of criteria. This database provides access to quality reviews in subjects for which a Cochrane review may not yet exist.

guidelines.gov  The National Guideline Clearinghouse™ (NGC), a public resource for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. NGC is an initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NGC was originally created by AHRQ in partnership with the American Medical Association and the American Association of Health Plans (now America's Health Insurance Plans [AHIP]). NGC offers Syntheses of selected guidelines that cover similar topic areas, and Expert Commentary on issues of interest and importance to the clinical guideline community.

 

Health Technology Assessment  provides details of completed and ongoing health technology assessments (studies of the medical, social, ethical and economic implications of health care interventions) from around the world. The aim of the database is to provide the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care. In addition to the systematic reviews, HTA contains ongoing and completed research based on trials, questionnaires, and economic evaluations and is produced by the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination(CRD) at the University of New York, UK in collaboration wih INAHTRA Secretariat, based at SBU, Sweden.

 

MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other government agencies and health-related organizations. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials and latest health news.

 

 

Micromedex Health Care Series offers a wide range of clinical databases, including unbiased, referenced information about drugs, toxicology, diseases, acute care, and alternative medicine.

National Guidelines Clearinghouse is a comprehensive database of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related documents designed to provide health care professionals a mechanism for obtaining objective, detailed information on clinical practice guidelines and to further their dissemination, implementation and use. NGC is an initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

 

 

NHS Economic Evaluation Database (NHS EED) assists decision-makers in the world of professional health care by providing information on the costs and effects of drugs, treatments and procedures.  Cost-benefit analyses are systematically identified, described, and appraised for quality while their relative strengths and weaknesses are explored and highlighted. The database contains over 6,000 abstracts of quality-assessed economic evaluations and more thatn 21, 000 total records.  NHS EED is produced by the Centre for Reviews and Disseminiation (CRD) at the University of New York, UK.

Pubmed is a free search engine offering access to MEDLINE. This database is provided by the National Library of Medicine and is a indexes over 4,500 biomedical journals and 17 million citations.  It covers the fields of Nursing, Medicine, Allied Health and various other medical disciplines.  It includes some links to full text articles and other related resources.

 

UpToDate is an evidence-based resource that covers more than 7,300 topics in 13 medical specialties and includes more than 75,000 pages of text, graphics, links to Medline abstracts, more than 250,000 references, and a drug database.

Wilson OmniFile Full Text Select is a multidisciplinary, 100% full-text database providing articles dating back to 1994.  Coverage includes the areas of art, applied science and technology, education, general science, humanities, library and information science, social sciences and business.
