BSN Curriculum

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is comprised of 128 semester hours divided between the Nursing major and other academic study. Sixty-four hours of academic coursework outside of the Nursing major is required. Of these 64 hours, 58 are designated as General Education requirements. The remaining six hours are comprised of non-Nursing electives.


Bachelor of Science in Nursing students are required to take the following courses in the Nursing major:

  • Issues and Trends in Professional Nursing
  • Level II Nursing Practicum

RN to BSN Curriculum


As licensed professionals, Registered Nurses earn 36 credit hours toward the 64 credit hours required for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree—and they may also apply real-world clinical experience toward the remaining 28 hours of credit in the major. Students enrolled in the RN to BSN Completion Option complete 64 hours of academic coursework outside of the Nursing major. Of these 64 hours, 58 are designated as General Education requirements. The remaining 6 hours are comprised on non-Nursing electives.


RN to BSN students are required to complete the following courses for the Nursing major requirements:

  • Health Assessment Across the Life Span
  • Research in Nursing
  • Nursing Management
  • Community Health Nursing
  • Issues and Trends in Professional Nursing
  • Level III Nursing Practicum
