William Jennings Bryan, founder of the Bryan School of Nursing, served two terms in Congress, was U.S. Secretary of State, and was the Democratic nominee for President in 1896, 1900, and 1908. He is perhaps best known for his role in the famous Scopes Trial, during which he argued against the teaching of evolution in a Tennessee classroom. Fairview, named for the beautiful view of the prairie that the house afforded its owners, was Bryan’s last Lincoln residence—a resplendent home that has been perfectly restored. Today, Fairview is part of the BryanLGH College of Health Sciences.
